Wow, the article really dramatizes the story. It's sad how media focuses on the few odd incidents and gives the whole field a bad rap.

McKinstry e-mailed me out of the blue back around 1996 Pushpinder Singh also e-mailed me around 1994, expressing amazement that I was (then) trying to do AI in REXX. When Christopher McKinstry died in January of 2006, a few people tried to keep his work at least archived if not proceeding, so I often wonder if anybody would try to keep Mentifex AI going if I got run over by a truck. Heck, I wish somebody would put one of my AI sites up here for discussion, since I have not figured out how to do it.

Very sad. Nor should Sasha Chislenko be forgotten. I have heard a connection proposed between genius and madness, including perhaps this kind.
