Immortality and boredom The argument that immortality will lead to boredom is not empirical, and to the extent that a logical argument is made, it is inconclusive.

I find that when people bring up the boredom thing it is not so much an argument as an attempt to change the subject or divert attention from the seriousness of the conversation. That said, it's a good point that immortality is often depicted as a total drag in popular culture.
My feeling is that when there is more concrete evidence to suggest that curing aging is possible soon that a serious debate on the subject will not center not on whether people will be bored but whether there are sufficient resources to sustain a non-senescing population.
