Will Sustainability Kill The Singularity?
Think about how words are generally used in the media. What about “energy?” In the past, that was a positive term; now, it has the same feel as “greed” or “destruction.”

There is a fine line between Sustainability and the Luddite movement. Are we crossing that line? What will be the ramifications?

Let's not let "how words are generally used" cloud our judgment: Regardless of tone or connotation, there's a scientific consensus that the current patterns of resource usage are unsustainable, and that we need to find alternatives. Just because some technophobes might be part of the sustainability movement doesn't mean that the science behind sustainability is wrong. We can call a Luddite a Luddite, but even a broken clock is right twice a day -- ignoring the scientific facts because of the political connections of some advocates would be tantamount to putting our heads in the sand.
